Report to Our Community
The “2023 Report to Our Community”, a 62-page publication printed and distributed in August 2023, sheds light on the vital connections between University of Utah Health and our diverse constituents in Utah. These include:
Patients: The population we serve.
Non-profit partners: Addressing societal challenges.
State legislators: Funding university operations and shaping policy.
Community leaders: Implementing policies at local levels.
The report candidly discusses severe health issues, explores individual passions driving systemic change, and celebrates community impacts when academic rigor, clinical commitment, research excellence, and legislative vision converge.
Our strategic goal was to elevate community engagement and outreach to be as pivotal as U of U Health’s traditional tripartite mission of academics, research, and clinical care.
Crafting this narrative was no small feat. It had to align with the biannual Community Health Needs Assessment, which prioritized diabetes, suicide prevention, opioid abuse, and rural healthcare access. Additionally, it wove together the distinct efforts across U of U Health’s extensive network of five hospitals, 12 community clinics, six schools and colleges, and hundreds of research labs. The narrative also catered to Utah’s rapidly diversifying population.
At U of U Health, we are committed to addressing our most difficult challenges so that every individual has equal opportunity to live a healthy life.
